Calling All Pie-Bakers and Pie-Eaters! 2010 Pie Party Baking Contest and Benefit, Sunday April 11 – Tucson AZ
With less than two weeks until the pie party, we hope you’re dusting off your rolling pins, testing pie recipes, and working up an appetite for all things pie. The pie party is on the horizon, and you won’t want to miss it!
If you’ve visited our website, pieparty.org, lately, you’ll know some of the exciting updates we want to share with you about this year’s pie bash:
- The prizes are looking pretty tasty at this point – with donations from Janos, Maynards, the B-Line, Lovin’ Spoonfuls, Bentley’s, Epic Cafe, and the Cup Cafe.
- That’s not including the grand prize: a four-night stay in a beachside condo in Puerto Penasco!
- There’s now an entry form at pieparty.org that you can download and bring with your pie (not required, but would be helpful). If you’re entering a pie and can try to arrive closer to 1:00, that would also be helpful to avoid a big crunch of people all at once just before 2:00.
- Coffee will be served by Epic Cafe.
- A raffle with sweet handmade creations is being stitched together, and you’ll want to be sure to get raffle tickets.
- T-shirts with this year’s logo will be available while supplies last.
- If you need a pie pan and don’t want to use your super fancy, ceramic or glass or sentimental ones, we understand. We have 100+ pie pans we can offer to folks in need (contact us and we’ll tell you where to pick them up), otherwise check out a local thrift store!
- Spread the word and invite your friends. The pie party needs you to not only enter the pie-baking contest, but to also arrive hungry for several slices.
- If you’d like to volunteer on the day of the pie party, and haven’t already talked to us, please let us know.
Now, a reminder with the details:
Sunday, April 11th
Dunbar School Auditorium
325 W 2nd St at Main Ave
Drop off pies for judging 1 – 2 p.m.
Pie Party 4 – 7 p.m.
The winner of the prestigious “best in show” award will win our grand prize and will select the recipient of the event’s proceeds. We’ve selected 12 local grassroots non-profit organizations as potential recipients (the list can be viewed on the flyer below or on our website, www.pieparty.org).
We need bakers as much as we need folks to come help us eat the pies. Following the baking contest all of the contest pies (and two dozen others provided by yours truly) will be sliced open, and the pie partying will ensue. Slices will be sold for $3 each or $5/two slices.
