Ian & Turtle’s Annual Pie Party, May 1, 2011 – Tucson AZ

[Note: This cool event is not hosted by Desert Harvesters]

What is this Pie Party and where did it come from?

In 2003, Turtle and Ian started a yearly pie tradition – their annual “all-you-can-eat” vegan pie party held each spring in Tucson, Arizona – because they dreamed of establishing a place where friends could gather for the camaraderie that results from sharing a slice of pie with one another. For Ian and Turtle, pie can be a gesture of appreciation as well as a celebration of friendship. Over the years, as the event has swelled in size, they’ve discovered that many others share their enthusiasm for pie. With something for just about everyone, they hope that the tasty morsels found at the pie parties they host will make your mouth water and your spirit hunger for more.

When and where it is happening this year?
Join the 2011 Pie Party from 4 – 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 1st, at the Dunbar School Auditorium (corner of 325 W 2nd St & Main Ave) for the announcement of the winning pies (Want to bake a pie? See below…) and to eat some of the tastiest treats that Tucson’s ovens have to offer. Pie will be sold for $3 a slice or $5 for two slices. You can eat as much as you like.

How to Enter a Pie:

to download the entry form. Pies in the contest must be homemade and entered into one of four categories: Fruit, Cream, Other, or Vegan. Bring your pie in a pie dish you don’t mind saying goodbye to, since they can’t guarantee its return. Drop off pies (you can enter more than one) between 12 – 1 p.m. at the Dunbar Auditorium. There is no entry fee to participate in the contest. Try to arrive early if you can.
