Time: 2-3:30 pm
Desert harvester Laurie Melrood presents an introduction to the taxonomy and food and medicinal uses of the native mesquites that grow in our backyards. The anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, astringent and anti-infective properties of mesquite make it a highly nutritive food. An interactive workshop with hands-on demonstrations and mesquite food samples for you to enjoy.
In some areas, there’s a plentiful “second harvest” of mesquite these days. Enjoy and get ready for the fall milling festivals!
